The Great Trains of Canada
Original article: https://www.greatrail.com/ca/the-journey-blog/2014/april/the-great-trains-of-canada/ Travelling across Canada on 'The Canadian' and 'The Ocean' combines onboard comfort and passing scenery into a unique experience. "Quite simply, no other travel experience can compare with a journey across the immense open spaces of Canada by rail. From the Pacific to the Atlantic, travelling over the vast ruggedness of the Rockies or the rolling miles of the plains, the only way to really make the most of the journey is aboard one of VIA Rail's iconic and distinguished trains." Linking Toronto to Vancouver, The Canadian is one of the world's most legendary and popular long haul train journeys, taking four nights to travel between Canada's largest city and the Pacific Coast through some of the most exciting and spectacular landscapes in the world. Memorailia
I dropped the “B” from Memorabilia and ended up with a catchy name for a site dedicated to Railway & Transportation memorabilia – articles, photos, video… and a collection of Railway Ephemera, Antiques and Memorabilia that I’m either displaying, selling or trading.
My interest in all thing trains comes from my father, Anthony, who worked for Canadian National for a good part of his life, was a railway historian and author, and who was an avid collector of railway brochures, timetables, books, photos… and more.
Many train trips later, he had to leave without his collection, and I’ve spent a good chunk of time organizing and cataloguing the various items. My particular interest is Railway art: Advertising art, lithographs, paintings & illustrations. Have a look around – most of what I’ve posted here are open to offers.
